More about Chandan

Chandan Ghosh is a graduate student in the M.S. in Artificial Intelligence program at Purdue University, where he concentrates in AI Policy and Management and is affiliated with the Governance and Responsible AI Lab (GRAIL). His work examines how governance frameworks and public policy can sustain healthy relationships between people and AI systems, with particular attention to the gap between the commitments organizations make on paper and the oversight they actually practice once systems reach production. He is interested in how organizations classify and tier AI risk, where authority for oversight sits, and whether governance designed to review models before deployment can keep pace with systems that act on their own.

Before graduate school, Chandan spent more than fifteen years building and governing AI for Fortune 500 organizations in healthcare, financial services, and technology. He owned product strategy for a conversational AI platform serving 500,000 subscribers across global markets, where he introduced active learning loops and bias controls that reduced bias incidents by 55 percent, and he partnered with Microsoft’s Responsible AI team to embed governance practices into production systems. More recently he has architected retrieval augmented agentic systems on Azure OpenAI and AI Foundry, established an AI Center of Excellence of fifty practitioners with its own intake, prioritization, and ethical review protocols, and built risk classification and escalation frameworks aligned with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework for clients in regulated industries. Building and deploying these systems across North America, the European Union, Asia Pacific, and Australia and New Zealand has brought him into sustained work with AI governance bodies in each region. He completed the AI Product Strategy and Build Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from West Bengal University of Technology in India.
