Tyler Girard is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University. Girard's research and teaching broadly focus on the political economy of digital technologies and the global promotion of agendas and norms.

Tyler Girard is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario. Girard’s research primarily explores the political economy of digital technologies and technological change. In addition, his work also examines the promotion of global norms or agendas and methodological issues of measurement and scaling. Girard’s book project (under contract, Stanford University Press) examines the origins and evolution of the global financial inclusion agenda and develops the theoretical concept of "participatory ambiguity" to explain the dynamic relationship between global agendas and transnational communities. Girard’s research is published or forthcoming in such journals as the American Political Science Review, International Studies Quarterly, and the Review of International Political Economy, among others. His public-facing work is also available in Policy Options, Good Authority, and The Conversation.
